New Director of Technology & Data to be Appointed

Dear Wildcats,

I am pleased to announce that I will recommend to the Board of Education that Dr. Robert Roelle be appointed as the new Director of Technology & Data at the Mount Pleasant Central School District, effective July 1, 2025, at the Board of Education Meeting on March 19. Dr. Roelle is replacing Ken Amann who is retiring from a career of over thirty years in Mount Pleasant as a math teacher, WHS Assistant Principal, and most recently Director of Technology & Data.

Dr. Roelle has served as the Customer Service Coordinator for Education Technology at the Lower Hudson Regional Information Center (LHRIC) since 2023. At LHRIC, he provides training and support for a wide range of school districts in the Lower Hudson Valley. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in Pearl River, Elementary and Middle School Principal and Technology Learning Facilitator in Pelham, and Technology and Social Studies teacher in Tuckahoe and Mount Pleasant. It is with pleasure that we welcome him back home to Mount Pleasant!

Throughout the process, Rob was identified as someone who would be able to hit the ground running, fit in with the team, and be a positive force within the technology department and beyond in Mount Pleasant. Our interview team was impressed with his ideas and he offered sophisticated responses around our strategic plan and Portrait of a Learner. One component of the interview was to design an entry plan. Rob’s plan demonstrated a keen and thorough understanding of instructional technology, infrastructure, data privacy, and technology systems. In his final interview, which was with the senior leadership team, Rob presented himself as a strong candidate who would complement the existing team well and be poised to build strong relationships, foster stability in the technology department, and provide steady guidance on the issues of cyber security, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

I fully anticipate that under Rob’s leadership, the technology department and the entire district will be well served. Please join me in welcoming Rob to the Mount Pleasant Family.

In anticipation of his appointment, Dr. Roelle said, "I would like to thank the Board of Education, Dr. Giarrizzo and the members of the search committee for the opportunity to join the Mount Pleasant Central School District. Working with schools throughout the region, especially my focus on technology during my time at LHRIC, I have gained a unique understanding of how to best meet diverse technology needs. This perspective will enable me to bring the very best to Mount Pleasant everyday. I am honored to join the Wildcat family and I look forward to working with the talented technology staff to exceed the needs of our students, educators, and administrators."

Dr. Roelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Millersville University, a Master of Arts in Environmental Conservation Education from New York University, a Master of Science in Instructional Technology from New York Institute of Technology, and Advanced Graduate Degree in Educational Administration from Stony Brook University and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, Administration, and Policy from Fordham University.
